Role Description The Construction Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Portage, IN. This role oversees trenchless construction projects from planning through completion, ensuring work is executed safely, on schedule, and within budget. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating and supervising field crews, managing subcontractors, and monitoring project progress and quality. The Construction Manager will review plans and specifications, prepare and track budgets, schedule resources and equipment, and enforce construction safety standards and company policies.
The role also includes communicating with clients, resolving site issues, maintaining accurate project documentation, and collaborating with leadership on continuous improvement in operations and safety.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Supervisory Skills, with experience leading field crews and coordinating subcontractors.
- Candidates should possess Budgeting and Project Control skills, including cost tracking, scheduling, and progress reporting.
- Candidates should possess Construction and Construction Safety expertise, with a proven record of safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in trenchless technology (directional drilling, pipe bursting, hydro excavation) or underground utilities is highly beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and permits.
- Comfort working in outdoor environments and on active construction sites, with a commitment to daily safety procedures.
- Preferred:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
