Overview
The Sr. Installation Project Engineer focuses on project management, coordination, customer interaction, and oversight of installation activities. This position supports the successful installation of automated industrial systems at customer sites and serves as a critical liaison between clients, internal engineering teams, and field crews. The ideal candidate excels at keeping projects on track, managing scopes and schedules, directing small engineering teams, and ensuring installation work aligns with technical and customer expectations.
ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities
- Project Management & Coordination:
Manage and coordinate multiple installation projects simultaneously, ensuring progress aligns with critical milestones. - Develop, review, and maintain Scopes of Work.
- Serve as the primary bridge between customers, internal engineering staff, and field personnel.
- Create, maintain, and communicate scheduling updates, coordinate field manpower needs, and outage planning.
- Lead or assist in project meetings.
- Ensure engineering deliverables align with project requirements before submission (IFA, IFB, IFC, As Built).
Installation Support & Field Coordination
- Support customers with installation of automated industrial systems (electrical and mechanical).
- Conduct periodic on-site field investigations, limited outage presence, mainly for oversight, not hands-on work.
- Work with field supervisors to coordinate fills, schedule adjustments, and installation sequencing.
- Provide technical and logistical support during commissioning activities.
Customer Interaction
- Act as a customer-facing representative for daily communication, technical clarification, and schedule/status updates.
- Ensure alignment between installed work, engineering intent, and customer expectations.
- Build long-term trust through clear communication and reliable project execution.
Team Leadership
- Provide leadership and direction to small groups of Installation Project Engineers and Installation Design Engineers.
- Review engineering work for accuracy, constructability, and clarity.
- Assist in training, guiding, and developing junior engineering staff.

Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred due to heavy electrical installation focus) or related discipline.
- 5+ years of industrial engineering, project engineering, or installation engineering experience.
- Ability to manage processes and people (two engineers report to this role).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, civil layouts, and hydraulic diagrams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD LT.
- Strong experience in industrial electrical and/or mechanical installation projects.
- Metals industry experience is a strong plus.
- Small team leadership or project coordination experience.
- NEC code familiarity; ETAP knowledge is a plus for oversight.

Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $51.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
