This is a contract position for 8-12 weeks.

Night shift, 3x12.0 hours.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, offering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, while working within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, explains procedures and treatments to patients, and provides education upon discharge.

• Conduct physician prescribed treatments utilizing various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance.
• Conduct suctioning using oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Evaluate patient's chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies.
• Assist in procedures related to respiratory care, including bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Provide tracheostomy care and manage endotracheal tube insertion and removal.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency.
• Adhere to laboratory testing policies including specimen handling and quality control.
• Conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy records and patient charts.
• Communicate with attending physicians regarding therapy efficiency and patient response.
