Position: IT Support I

Job Description

The Tier 1 Support Technician serves as the first point of contact for IT support across the organization. This role is responsible for providing timely, professional, and practical technical assistance to end users while troubleshooting common hardware, software, connectivity, access, and system‑related issues.

Essential Functions
  • Provide user support by responding to user requests or issues utilizing an IT ticketing system.
  • Provide basic support and troubleshooting such as password resets, printer configuration, break/fix, ticket routing, and escalating to Level 2 and 3 support.
  • Assist in the IT onboarding process of new employees.
  • Assist in the IT termination process of employees.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with end users.
  • Maintain software and hardware inventory utilizing an asset management system.
Other
  • Assist other members of the IT department with IT support or project‑related tasks.
  • Install and maintain PC operating systems and business‑related software.
  • Install and test software upgrades or patches to business‑related software.
  • Report and elevate any IT requests or issues requiring additional assistance for resolution.
  • Provide individual or group instruction, as needed, to the use of equipment or software.

Supervisory Requirements

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee regularly sits for long periods of time at a desk in front of a computer screen. The employee may occasionally be required to lift, push, pull, or carry objects; typically when filing is needed.

This is a full‑time nonexempt position. This position may require long hours.

Travel
  • Ability to travel occasionally, less than 10%, to support office, jobsite, or field technology needs.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma required.
  • 1–2 years of IT support, help desk, desktop support, or related technical support experience.
  • CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent technical knowledge preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, networking, printers, mobile devices, and common business applications.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Experience using an IT ticketing system preferred.
  • Ability to take full ownership of assigned projects and work independently.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
