Job Description
To ensure warehousing, shipping and receiving targets are met or exceeded by training and developing workers, managing employee scheduling, managing inventories and inbound and outbound trucks. Ensure product quality is preserved through proactive involvement in process improvement. Supervise, manage and develop warehousing personnel. Conduct plant audits and reviews of warehouse assuring company standards are maintained and work with other departments to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems.
Identify and help to implement improvements. Function as an information source to various departments to continuously improve operations. Support customer service during customer visits and audits. Support the Plant Manager on special department projects. Ensure workers are following safety and GMP guidelines.
- Safety Management
- Ensure all personnel work safely.
- Ensure workplace is clean, organized, and safe.
- Conduct safety discussions with all personnel.
- Overall shift management
- Coordination of all warehouse functions on shift.
- Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Employee scheduling
- Ensure effective equipment operation and warehouse efficiencies are met.
- Manage material receiving/finished goods shipping, documentation and execution so that product quality is maintained.
- Work with customers to ensure their goals for shipping and receiving are met.
- Warehouse organization and operations
- Manage organization of the warehouse.
- Drive food safety and quality of materials through worker training, development and ensure warehouse equipment is properly functioning and operated.
- Generate work orders for equipment issues and improvements.
- Inventory Management
- Work with operations to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained per production schedule.
- Ensure inventory systems and Bill of Materials are setup for proper relief of inventories during production.
- Effectively manage finished goods levels.
- Work with external warehouses to effectively manage inventory levels.
- Manage scheduling of deliveries with suppliers and manage exceptions.
- Continuous Improvement of Operations
- Understand Warehouse processes, including shipping and receiving.
- Review warehouse efficiencies and work with all departments to improve throughput.
- Work with management to improve efficiencies and reduce cost.
- Track improvement ideas to understand effectiveness of changes.
- Personnel Training and Development
- Support personnel training and development.
- Ensure warehouse personnel (forklift operators, shipping and receiving) are trained on following SOPs, performing the tasks on the equipment checklists, performing quality inspections, and monitoring and documenting materials entering and leaving the facility.
- Ensure warehouse personnel are trained on warehousing, general operations, food safety and quality SOPs.
- Assess employee performance (both MSI and Staffing), develop improvement plans, and implement training to increase employee skills and performance.
- Provide regular, documented feedback to employees to improve performance.
- SOP implementation and review in areas of responsibility.
- Ensure SOPs are properly documented.
- Other duties
