The Medical Receptionist is the face of the office, greeting all patients and is responsible for performing work that is central to the smooth running of the medical office, including checking patients in and out, answering phones, verifying insurance, and securing authorizations for appointments. This job is full-time, in-office, from 7 am-4 pm Monday through Friday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)- Responsible for opening the clinic and ensuring the office is ready to see patients.
- Greeting all patients and maintaining polite and professional communication with all patients and staff.
- Checking patients in and obtaining all information needed.
- Verifying insurance and obtaining any authorizations or pre-certifications needed; informing patients if we do not participate with their insurance.
- Reviewing and interpreting information in the billing system, answering questions and collecting appropriate copays and deductibles.
- Assisting in checking patients out and scheduling future appointments.
- Answering multi-line telephone system and routing callers to the appropriate party.
- Processing all relevant incoming communications and forwarding them to appropriate locations.
- Scanning paperwork into appropriate areas of the patient charts.
- Serving as back-up to assist other front desk employees with various duties when needed.

- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum of one year of receptionist or administrative assistant work experience required, preferably in a medical office.
- Insurance background and knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

- Operates a computer and other modern office machinery.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, carrying supplies and other items up and down stairs without restrictions.
- Frequently communicates with team members who have questions and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
