The building substitute performs essential duties as a classroom teacher assistant with flexible teaching assignments throughout the day based on ratio, staff absence and needs for GSRP Classroom programming.

• Must have knowledge or comply with Pre K All Policies and Procedures, and State of Michigan Licensing under MiLeap.
• Awareness and understanding of a lesson plan and ways to incorporate hands‑on activities and experiential learning considering factors such as individual needs, abilities, learning levels and physical limitations of students.
• Assist with flexible environment that is focused on student success to maximize potential.
• Fluidity and understanding that the schedule will vary on a day to day basis to best support students.
• Implements PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) in the classroom.
• Establish a safe, healthy, stimulating and developmentally appropriate learning environment for all children.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Regular and consistent attendance.

• Must be an approved permitted substitute teacher through Edustaff.
• Associate degree (AA) in early childhood education or child development or the equivalent in relation to licensing standards per MiLeap.
• CDA credential with preschool emphasis and commitment to renew or in progress of obtaining.
• CPR/First Aid/AED training, or ability to obtain the training when offered during work hours.
• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Degree preferred.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with district staff and the public.
• Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment.
• Proficient computer and document skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
