DISHER has an 18-month contract in Portage, MI for an Engineer for Welding Operations. This position is 100% onsite.
What you will get to do- Execute tasks defined in the project plan that support welding operations for the assembly program, aligned with build schedules and manufacturing milestones.
- Support development, qualification, and documentation of welding processes required for production.
- Assist with technical reviews, feasibility assessments, and readiness activities related to welded subassemblies.
- Provide sustaining support across existing welding operations to enable internal engineering resources to remain fully allocated to project work; troubleshoot welding-related production issues, including process deviations, equipment concerns, and material inconsistencies.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for weld-related defects or quality issues.
- Maintain weld procedures, parameters, and associated documentation under engineering guidance.
- Provide day-to-day support to operators and technicians across multiple welding stations or lines.
- Cross-Line Welding Support: support welding operations across several assembly and welding lines; respond to weld engineering requests across different product lines; balance multiple tasks while remaining aligned with direction from the welding engineering team; ensure welding standards, parameters, and safety protocols are consistently applied.
- Technical Direction and
Collaboration:
report to and take direction from the engineering team; follow technical guidance from welding engineers and contribute to engineering discussions where appropriate; communicate status updates, risks, and emerging issues proactively; collaborate effectively with manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and quality engineering. - Safety, Compliance, and Quality: ensure all work adheres to internal welding standards, safety requirements, and applicable codes (e.g., AWS, ISO); support quality inspections and documentation, including weld symbol interpretation, visual inspection, and process verification; maintain accurate and complete records of work, weld trials, and process adjustments.
- Experience with:
Microsoft Project, OnePPM, Valgenesis, Master Control, Visio, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Fanuc, Fronius
