Position: Staff Mechanical Engineer, R&D

* Join Stryker's Surgical Technologies R&D team as a Staff Mechanical Engineer and help develop the next generation of surgical fluid and smoke management systems. As a senior technical contributor within New Product Development, you will work across the entire product lifecycle, from concept through launch, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, safe, and compliant medical device solutions. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong mechanical design background, systems-level thinking, and expertise in complex problem solving who is passionate about driving technical innovation, influencing product direction, and mentoring fellow engineers.

This is a hybrid role based role in Portage, MI.

** What You Will Do*
* + Design, develop, and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision.

+ Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutions.

+ Lead prototyping and testing efforts to validate design performance.

+ Identify and resolve complex design issues using data-driven analysis to improve processes and outcomes.

+ Apply clinical knowledge to author design inputs and support Voice of Customer sessions.

+ Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practices.

+ Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files.

+ Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launch.

** What You Will Need*
* ** Required Qualifications*
* + Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.

+ Minimum four years of relevant engineering experience.

+ Experience designing mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies.

+ Proficiency in creating engineering drawings and models using GD&T and CAD tools.

** Preferred Qualifications*

Experience with CAD tools, preferably Creo.

+ Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.

+ Familiarity with risk management and quality systems in a regulated environment.

+

Experience with fluid dynamics, air filtration, fabrication and plastics.

** United States of America Pay Ranges:*

** USN** : $89,300 - $148,800 USD Annual
