Description
The Junior Loan Officer is a foundational, training-intensive role designed to bridge the gap between mortgage theory and high-performance outbound production. Operating within a structured, in-office environment, this individual will serve as the primary point of contact for inbound mortgage inquiries, managing the initial lifecycle of the loan from lead intake through to delivery. The Associate will work in close coordination with the Mortgage Team, gaining hands‑on experience in application processing, rate negotiation, and loan locking.
The ultimate objective is to master the technical and interpersonal nuances of the mortgage industry, preparing the individual for a seamless transition into a full-scale Outbound Loan Officer role.
- Act as the first line of engagement for all incoming mortgage inquiries, providing professional, timely, and accurate information to prospective clients.
- Guide members through the initial application phase, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and accurately entered in the system to initiate a clean file.
- Develop proficiency in analyzing market trends to negotiate competitive interest rates and execute precise loan locks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Manage the flow of the loan through the various stages of processing, ensuring all milestones are met to guarantee successful loan delivery.
- Participate in intensive, mentorship-driven workflows alongside senior Mortgage Team members to develop advanced skills in sales, financial analysis, and complex problem-solving.
- Maintain strict adherence to all regulatory standards and internal quality control protocols to ensure every file meets the highest level of integrity.
- Become familiar with Mortgage Industry policies and procedures including but not limited to underwriting guidelines, condition clearing, pre‑underwriting, and credit analysis.
- Foster a positive organization culture that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Five years financial services institution preferred
- NMLS License preferred
- Strong listening and communication skills (oral & written)
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
