Role Description

The Nurse Practitioner role is a full-time or part-time, on-site position based at Access Now Care in Portage, MI. The Nurse Practitioner will perform patient assessments, obtain medical histories, conduct physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop evidence-based treatment plans for minor illnesses, injuries, and chronic conditions. Daily responsibilities include providing urgent care and primary care services, prescribing medications, delivering preventive care and wellness counseling, and coordinating follow-up care with other members of the clinical team.

The role involves collaborating closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals, documenting all encounters accurately in the medical record, and supporting quality improvement initiatives and clinic protocols. The Nurse Practitioner will also provide patient education to promote safety, health literacy, and long-term wellness.

Qualifications
  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Michigan and national certification (e.g., FNP, AGNP, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in urgent care, family medicine, or primary care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of common acute and chronic conditions.
  • Proficiency in performing routine procedures (e.g., suturing, splinting, wound care, injections) and interpreting diagnostic tests such as labs, X-rays, and EKGs.
  • Strong patient communication and education skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and age groups.
  • Experience using electronic health records (EHR), maintaining accurate documentation, and following clinical protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, exercise sound clinical judgment, and manage a steady patient volume in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care, continuous learning, and participation in quality and safety initiatives.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field; previous experience in urgent care, family medicine, or emergency/primary care settings is preferred.
