Heavy Production Worker

Overview

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants that produce 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to food service, retail and ingredient customers. In 2019 the co‑op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co‑op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheese makers.

• Operate packaging equipment efficiently and safely.
• Perform heavy production tasks such as cheese trimmer, palletizer for the process line, trim handling, cool and rack loaves, case packer, production checker, feeding, stacking, slice and load hauler.
• Monitor procedures and working conditions to prevent product contamination or excessive waste.
• Communicate effectively with plant personnel.
• Verify quality control items such as product weights, coding, uniformity, and packaging.
• Maintain proper documentation of all recordkeeping formats.
• Assist with sanitation and housekeeping throughout the plant.
• Adhere to all company, customer safety, sanitation and policy procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
• Assist with training new employees.
• Provide assistance to the maintenance personnel for machine repairs or troubleshooting.

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
• Ability to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.
• Understanding of quality and food safety policies and procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical stamina to handle heavy production tasks and maintain operational safety.
