Job Summary

The Breeder Service Technician is responsible for supporting breeder flock performance and farm operations at our New Mexico location. This position works closely with the Breed Operations Manager to ensure breeder flocks, facilities, and farms are operating at optimal standards for layability, hatchability, health, and overall production performance.

This is a hands‑on, field‑based role that combines technical knowledge, relationship management, problem‑solving, and operational coordination. The Breeder Service Technician serves as a key link between the farms and hatchery facility, helping drive consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement across breeder operations.

Essential Functions Farm Operations & Coordination
  • Works closely with the Breed Operations Manager – NM to support breeder operations and strategic goals.
  • Works directly with farm workers, supervisors, and managers, to address operational needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develops and effectively maintains a farm visit schedule to ensure consistent oversight and support.
  • Audits farms according to established schedules and maintains accurate audit records.
  • Uses production reports to identify trends and communicate performance results to leadership.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces improvement plans for farms and farm employees.
  • Coordinates starter barns and transportation for breeder stock.
  • Participates in industry continuing education and events.
Production Performance and Operational Excellence
  • Ensures that breeder chick deliveries are coordinated.
  • Works with farm workers to ensure they are meeting required policies and standards.
  • Works with farms to optimize layability and hatchability performance.
  • Troubleshoots production issues including hatchability, layability, disease control, and pest control.
  • Coordinates and implements flock vaccination, flock service and biological testing schedules.
  • Collects and submits environmental and water samples.
  • Can run skid loaders and tractors or willing to learn.
  • Can drive standard transmission feed truck or willing to learn.
  • Inventories feed and coordinates feed delivery.
  • Delivers feed with feed truck when necessary.
  • Performs maintenance that sometimes includes plumbing and electrical.
  • Be scheduled in rotation to be on call on some weekends.
  • Possible on call for holidays.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
