Quality Engineer

Position Summary

Leads Process Improvement tools and methods such as 5S, root cause analysis, Six Sigma, time and motion studies to eliminate quality losses and deviations within a distribution center according to the Network Process Structure using Walmart Performance System (WPS) programs. Delivers expected functional area results through KPI analysis and loss elimination and by creating standard work to reduce process variation. Assists with reviewing and responding to quality-focused process improvement projects owned by area managers, compiling and submitting deviations to existing One Best Way playbooks, and providing input to Divisional Focused Improvement Teams on project ideation and replication opportunities.

Manages project execution of top quality losses in the functional area and assists in building the capability of other area managers and associates. Leads quality-related savings projects within the area of responsibility, promotes company policies, and supports continuous learning and development of associates.

• Lead process improvement initiatives using tools such as 5S, root cause analysis, Six Sigma, and time and motion studies.
• Analyze KPI data to identify and eliminate quality losses.
• Create and implement standard work to reduce process variation.
• Assist with review and response of quality-focused projects owned by area managers.
• Compile and submit deviations to playbooks and provide input to improvement teams.
• Deploy the Quality Excellence WPS program methodology and manage project execution of top quality losses.
• Develop area quality loss profile analysis and performance metrics.
• Conduct gap analysis to support WPS integration.
• Support department managers with WPS programs, associate engagement, and KPI improvements.
• Lead quality-related savings projects and take loss out of the process.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and recognition to associates.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Build high-performing teams and foster a culture of belonging and continuous learning.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience in quality or process improvement.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong analytical skills.

• Co‑op/internship experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or distribution.
• Experience applying basic Lean/Continuous Improvement tools.
• Knowledge of quality management system elements including SPC, FMEA, and quality KPIs.
