Job DescriptionThe patient population served includes all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. Services may affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors, and the general public.
Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Radiology, and in consultation with the Medical Director, the Ultrasonographer Technologist performs professional duties in diagnostic ultrasound imaging, including pelvic, OB/GYN, abdominal, small parts, and vascular imaging. The role requires independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Responsibilities include patient care, comfort, completion of procedures, and assessment of appropriate care for all patient age groups. The technologist must maintain department compliance with governing agency regulations, follow the AIDET protocol, and be prepared to accept reassignment and additional duties.
On-call responsibilities are required; the technologist may also be responsible for other modalities if trained, during scheduled call periods.
- At least 1 year of ultrasound experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures, commissions, discounts, etc., if required.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written or oral form and to solve problems with several variables.
- BLS certification (current, or to be obtained within orientation).
- Completion of an accredited Ultrasound program.
- ARDMS certification (recent graduates must be certified within 12 months).
- Trophon certification required within 30 days of hire.
