Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Full-Time)

Location: Porterville, CA
Pay Range: $48.80 – $68.31 per hour
Shift: 12-hour shifts – Days/Nights
Setting: Hospital Emergency Department
Bonuses: Up to $20,000 sign-on bonus (3+ years acute care experience)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room to provide high-quality, individualized nursing care in a fast-paced hospital Emergency Department.

The RN will provide comprehensive care to patients across all age groups, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
, while utilizing strong clinical judgment, assessment skills, and critical thinking to respond to a wide range of emergent and complex conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and identify patient needs
  • Provide individualized nursing care using the Nursing Process
  • Assess, treat, and provide nursing care appropriate to patients of all ages
  • Safely administer medications and perform unit-specific clinical procedures
  • Recognize subtle, abnormal, or changing signs and symptoms and respond appropriately
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care
  • Monitor patient responses to treatment and communicate changes to physicians and the healthcare team
  • Provide appropriate patient and family education
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Follow hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety standards
  • Maintain infection prevention practices, including central line and Foley catheter protocols
  • Participate in emergency response and community disaster activities as required
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Maintain current knowledge of healthcare trends and emergency nursing practices
Emergency Department Focus
  • Provide nursing care for patients presenting with a broad range of emergency conditions
  • Utilize ESI triage principles and complete the ESI triage course within six months of hire
  • Utilize ED-specific standardized procedures appropriate to patient complaints and presentations
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
  • Maintain readiness to participate in emergency and code situations
  • Work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
  • Maintain competency in emergency nursing practices and department-specific procedures
Requirements
  • Active California RN license
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Strong clinical judgment, assessment, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to provide care across the full patient age spectrum, including pediatric and newborn patients
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple competing priorities
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts, including weeknights, weekends, holidays, call-backs, and on-call as required
  • Willingness to participate in emergency response and community disaster activities as directed
Certifications
  • BLS – Required
  • ACLS – Required
  • PALS – Required
  • MICN certification required within 2 years of starting employment/transfer or prior to being assigned as Charge RN or Resource RN
  • CPI certification required or must be obtained within 1 year of assignment to the department
  • ESI Triage certification/course required within 6 months of hire
