* * A successful Material Prep Operator I uses hand grinders, pedestal grinders and hand files to remove burrs and thread starts from various machined components in a safe manner. This is an hourly position reporting to the Machining Supervisor.

* Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

*** Ability to operate manual Bridgeport machines, grinders and sandblasting equipment.
* Operate crane system for moving and handling heavier materials.
* Ability to comprehend all routing and product documentation.
* Ability to operate the parts washer.
* Ability to maintain the work area including housekeeping and organization.
* Ability to effectively communicate and interact with other department employees and other personnel as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

* Minimum Qualifications:

*** High school Diploma or GED required.
* Requires strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
* Must demonstrate the ability to comprehend and follow work directions in a safe and proficient manner.
* Basic ability to read and follow routing steps.
* Basic understanding of material locations.
* Basic computer skills.
* Basic experience with small hand tools, grinders sanders and files.
* Mechanical aptitude.
* Must be capable of obtaining a fork truck operators license and capable of operating a fork truck.

*** Prolonged periods standing.
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
