Material Prep Operator I, 2nd Shift (United States of America)

Summary:

A successful Material Prep Operator I uses hand grinders, pedestal grinders and hand files to remove burrs and thread starts from various machined components in a safe manner. This is an hourly position reporting to the Group Leader.

• Operate manual Bridgeport machines, grinders, sandblasting equipment.
• Operate crane system for moving and handling heavier materials.
• Comprehend all routing and product documentation.
• Operate the parts washer.
• Maintain the work area including housekeeping and organization.
• Communicate and interact with other department employees and personnel as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to comprehend and follow work directions in a safe and proficient manner.
• Basic ability to read and follow routing steps.
• Basic understanding of material locations.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic experience with small hand tools, grinders, sanders and files.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Capable of obtaining a forklift operator license and operating a forklift.

• Prolonged periods standing.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
