The starting pay for this position is $21.90 hr. with a shift increase for second and third shift.
The Sanitation Skilled Laborer is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the plant in accordance with Master Cleaning Schedule. Sanitarian Worker will be required to disassemble/reassemble equipment and machinery prior to cleaning, use hazardous chemicals on daily basis, use high pressure sprayer to clean equipment, perform dry pick‑up of all inedible material on machines and floors, and complete any additional tasks deemed necessary to complete sanitation process.
Descriptionof Primary Duties and Responsibilities
COMPLETED LOCKOUT/TAGOUT AND CHEMICAL TRAINING REQUIRED within first week; must complete scissor lift within first two weeks.
Maintain cleanliness of production areas utilizing various tools and chemicals; will be required to disassemble/reassemble some equipment/machinery to ensure areas are sanitized; must follow all safety/quality processes and department operation standards.
Operate high pressure hose, air wand, and various chemicals to clean and sanitize production equipment per required specifications.
- Must perform checks on equipment to ensure all areas properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Must communicate any issues/concerns to direct lead, supervisor, and/or manager in timely manner.
- Must promptly respond and professionally communicate to supervisors and colleagues requests for sanitation services.
- Must complete paperwork/documentation as required.
- Must maintain cleanliness/organization of sanitation areas, lockers, chemical rooms, etc.
- Responsible for notifying Supervisor and/or QA of contamination concerns.
- Must adhere to all safety policies and operate equipment in a safe manner.
- Responsible for monitoring and reporting any wear and tear on equipment in timely manner.
- Responsible for following company policies/procedures written or verbal.
- Performs all other tasks as assigned.
- Must be able to perform the Sanitation Laborer Training Checklist job tasks within expected training period.
- Must be able to follow direction and stay on task with little supervision.
- Must be able to safety operate scissor lift, hand jack, and other industrial equipment.
- Must be able to read and understand the Sanitation SOP’s, manuals, and related documentation as written.
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must be able to work variable shifts of up to twelve (12) hour days including weekends and holidays.
- Team Member will flex wrists and hands.
- Team Member will walk, bend, stand and twist on cement floor for long periods of time.
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 35-50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
- Team Member will move heavy objects (100 lbs.) with mechanical device.
- Must be able to tolerate heights up to 70 ft off the ground and move objects of 100 lbs. using mechanical device.
Job specific training will be conducted by the designated Trainer on the shift. Required training may include, but is not limited to, lockout-tagout, scissor lift, fall protection, chemical training, confined spaces (consists of pulmonary function testing), ongoing quality, safety and departmental training. Team members will be evaluated on job performance in accordance with the Training Program SOP. SPC training conducted by designated trainer.
Documentation and agenda kept by Quality Control. Monthly training of a Safety topic and a GMP topic will be conducted by their immediate supervisor from information provided by the Safety Director and QA Manager.
