Portland Public Schools has two Dedicated Building Substitute openings for the 26‑27 school year at East End Community School. Assigned to a specific school for the entire year, the Dedicated Substitute is onsite daily and able to fill in as needed, assisting with daily classroom functions, implementing lesson plans, and monitoring and supporting students. At times, the Dedicated Substitute may be assigned to the same classroom for multiple days.
The Dedicated Substitute plays an essential role in providing continuity and consistency for the students at their assigned school. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for those who are passionate about helping students reach their full potential.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Prior experience working with children
- Active Maine State Teacher Certification (preferred)
- Schedule:
School Year, Full Time, 1.0 FTE (standard 7 hour day) - Assignment:
Temporary, not guaranteed to extend beyond the 26‑27 school year - Wages: $28.99 per hour

Eligible for $500 per month toward a PPS medical benefits plan, also eligible for Earned Paid Leave (EPL) as per Maine law
* Amounts shown here are 25-26 rates. The rates for 26‑27 will increase at the start of the 26‑27 school year.
