South Portland Schools are seeking Educational Technicians to support students in Special Education.
- Resource Classrooms typically serve students with primarily academic and some social, emotional, and behavioral needs. Classrooms are supported by service providers as needed.
- Composite Classrooms typically serve students who have more disability related needs (academic, social, attentional, behavioral, and developmental). Composite classrooms are supported by service providers and a BCBA.
- Functional Life Skills Classrooms serve students who often have communication, academic, behavioral, sometimes physical, and often require support with activities of daily living. Classrooms are supported by a full service provider team, including a BCBA, Speech/Language Pathologist, and Occupational Therapist.
- Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Classrooms serve students who require support with emotional and behavioral regulation, as well as academic and social needs ssrooms are supported by a full service provider team, including a Consulting Psychologist/BCBA, and Social Worker.
This position supports K-4 learners in Regular Education Settings
- Hours and
Location:
35 hours per week: 8:30-3:30 five days a week at Small School - Qualifications
- Experience working with children
- Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Strong communication, collaboration, and flexibility skills
- Responsibilities
- Support students' academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and developmental growth
- Assist with classroom routines, small group instruction, and individualized student support
This position supports young learners in a high-quality early childhood classroom focused on academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development through the PreK for ME curriculum.
- Hours and
Location:
35 hours per week: 8:15-3:15 five days a week at Dyer and Small Schools - Qualifications
- Experience working with young children, preferably in an early childhood or PreK setting
- Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Strong communication, collaboration, and flexibility skills
- Responsibilities
- Work closely with the PreK teacher to support implementation of the PreK for ME curriculum
- Support students' academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and developmental growth
- Assist with classroom routines, small group instruction, and individualized student support
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment
- Collaborate with members of the district PreK team and related service providers
- Attend professional development and participate in ongoing training opportunities
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role
- We are seeking both regular education and special education PreK Ed Techs
