Spanish Teacher (Part Time, 0.5 FTE) - King Middle
Position OverviewUnder the direction of the School Principal, the Spanish Teacher plans and provides rigorous, engaging, and joyful learning experiences for all students. The Teacher fosters an environment that supports the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional wellness and development of individuals to ensure success for every student. In addition to supporting students' growth and well‑being, the Teacher creates, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the varied learning needs of students.
The Teacher monitors and evaluates student growth and outcomes using standards‑based curriculum and guidelines, and serves as an integral member of the King Middle School community who supports students' holistic well‑being.
- Working knowledge of pertinent curriculum standards, techniques for integrating and adapting curriculum, and effective instructional practices.
- Understanding of the teaching and learning process, including the ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and trauma‑informed practices that engage culturally diverse populations.
- Record of student achievement ensuring rigorous, culturally inclusive instruction using standards‑based curriculum that correlates with developmentally appropriate and engaging learning activities.
- Excellent human relations skills; the ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school‑based staff, students, and parents.
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
- Additional combinations of applicable education, training, and experience are welcome.
- 660 ESOL Endorsement, SIOP training, and/or experience working with multilingual learners is preferred.

- Maine State Teacher Certificate with 440 Endorsement (PK‑12).
- Maine State CHRC authorization. If you already have an active teacher certification, a separate CHRC is not required because this clearance is tied to your teacher certification.
- Schedule: School Year, Part Time (0.5 FTE)
- Salary: Based on education and experience, as outlined in the CBA.
