Portland Public Schools seeks a dynamic, friendly, student-centered English Language Arts teacher to join the teaching faculty at King Middle School for the school year. The successful candidate will build and maintain an inclusive classroom environment that holds all students to high expectations and fosters individual growth. Additionally, this educator will collaborate closely with colleagues to implement high-quality instructional materials, monitor student progress, and design effective interventions for a diverse range of learners.
This candidate will communicate and interact regularly with students, parents, colleagues, and community members to support student success.
- Knowledge of PPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, PPS policies, and effective instructional practices
- Understanding of the teaching/learning process
- Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
- Ability to infuse technology into curriculum
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and community
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university
- Additional combinations of applicable education, training, and experience are welcome

- Maine State Teaching Certificate with one of the following endorsements ( more info ):
- English 100 (5-8 or 6-12)
- Elementary 020 (K-8)
- Maine State CHRC authorization ( more info ) **
