Portland Public Schools seeks a dedicated
Educational Technician III for the Pre-K program at our Community Partner Site, Youth and Family Outreach (YFO). A successful candidate will demonstrate experience with and knowledge of early childhood curriculum, developmentally appropriate practice, and classroom management. They will support the classroom teacher in building student school readiness by helping to create a positive, developmentally appropriate learning environment. Working knowledge of the Maine Early Learning Development Standards, Pre-K for ME curricula, and Teaching Strategies Gold is preferred.
A successful candidate will have a passion for working with young children, bring an equity-oriented approach to their instruction, and will hold all students to high expectations, recognizing that some may need more support to meet those expectations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with families experiencing poverty, and with students and families for whom English is a second or third language, and/or interest in working in a classroom that includes students with identified special needs.
We seek a teammate who is apositive, collaborative, and effective communicator, and will contribute actively to both the classroom and the larger PPS community. The Pre-K Educational Technician will take direction from the Pre-K teacher and report to their building administrators.
The Educational Technician will attend both building-wide and Pre-K team staff meetings and professional development opportunities as appropriate and as required.

All Public Pre-K programs in Maine adhere to Maine Chapter 124 as their guidance document.
