POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Art Teacher at Lyseth Elementary School will foster creativity and artistic expression for students in grades K-5 using a variety of media and techniques. The teacher will also provide behavioral support in alignment with school-wide practices and assess student progress to inform instruction. The role requires collaboration, cultural responsiveness, and a strong commitment to equity and inclusive education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:- Knowledge of PPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, PPS policies, and effective instructional practices
- Understanding of the teaching/learning process
- Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
- Ability to infuse technology into curriculum
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, students, parents and community
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university
- Maine State Teacher Certificate with Endorsement 620 (Art, PK-12) ( more info )
