DescriptionScarborough Public Schools is seeking compassionate and dedicated Educational Technicians to join our Special Education Team. This position involves working directly with students in both one-on-one and small group settings to provide instructional and behavioral support. Positions available at all grade levels.
Key Responsibilities- Assist special education teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction in academic, social, and life skills as directed by the special education teacher.
- Support students in inclusive classroom settings, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and are engaged in learning.
- Assist in modifying and adapting classroom materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Implement behavioral support plans, monitor progress, and assist with positive behavior interventions.
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Collect data on student progress and provide input to the special education team.
- Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and other school staff to ensure students receive appropriate support.
- Assist students with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, or mobility, if necessary.
- Attend professional development sessions to stay updated on best practices in special education support.
Must hold current Educational Technician certification and have your CHRC (fingerprinting). School experience preferred.
Maine State Law requires ALL school employees to be fingerprinted and pass a Criminal History Record Check (CHRC). A copy of your CHRC MUST be uploaded as part of your application to be considered.
