Special Education Teacher | Portland, Maine

In this rewarding contract role, youll have a meaningful impact on elementary students as a Special Education Resource Teacher. Serving 4th and 5th graders, this position offers the opportunity to support students academic, social, and emotional growth in a collaborative and dynamic school environment close to Portland, ME. The assignment runs from ASAP through June 11, 2027, with a weekly commitment of 32.5 hours.

Workday hours are 7:20 AM2:20 PM, with an early release for students on Wednesdays at 1:10 PM while teachers remain for additional planning.

Youll deliver targeted instruction and interventions in a Resource capacity, working closely with students who benefit from specialized support, including those participating in life skills and behavior programs.

• Hold active certification or licensure as a Special Education Teacher
• Prefer experience with life skills instruction and/or behavior support programs
• Demonstrated ability to tailor instruction and accommodate diverse learning needs
• Strong collaborative skills, able to partner with general education staff and related service providers
• Previous experience supporting elementary school students is highly valued
• Committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Provide direct instruction and resource support for students in 4th and 5th grade
• Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and adjust plans as needed
• Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Create a positive, structured classroom conducive to learning and growth

Compensation & Benefits:
This position offers an hourly rate of $34 $ 38, reflecting your expertise and commitment. On-site W2 contractors are eligible for comprehensive benefits. For virtual assignments, a 1099 contract applies (with required liability insurance).
