About the Company:

Our client is a leading engineering and product development firm specializing in cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical solutions. Their expertise spans across multiple industries, including medical devices, automotive accessibility products, and industrial/military applications. With a strong commitment to innovation, they design and manufacture custom solutions that meet the unique needs of their clients, from initial concept through production.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take a leadership role in the design and development of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. You will work on new product development and enhancements to existing products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality and manufacturable designs. This role requires a balance between hands-on prototyping, CAD design, and project leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design process, working closely with electrical and software engineers to develop integrated product solutions.
  • Design enclosures and packaging for electro-mechanical systems, including PCB integration.
  • Develop designs using various materials such as plastics, aluminum, stainless steel, and advanced 3D printing materials.
  • Select appropriate manufacturing methods, including machining, sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, welding, and casting.
  • Generate engineering documentation, including CAD models, drawings, Bills-of-Materials (BOMs), and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), in accordance with industry standards.
  • Apply ASME Y14 drafting standards and GD&T principles to ensure precise and manufacturable designs.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis to validate design feasibility.
  • Design products for both low-volume and high-rate production environments.
  • Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) methodologies.
  • Work on usability, reliability, experimental design, testing, verification, and validation of mechanical systems.
  • Utilize 3D printing technology to accelerate prototyping and product development.
  • Perform CAD and FEA simulations to evaluate and optimize designs.
  • Conduct technical design reviews and ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations.
  • Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong self-motivation with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills across engineering disciplines.
  • Preferred experience with industrial 3D printing technology.
  • Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 10+ years of design engineering experience, preferably in electro-mechanical systems, medical devices, or test fixture design.
  • Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS or equivalent 3D CAD software for modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
  • Experience with SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault is preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as FDA, UL, IEC, ISTA, etc., is a plus.
  • This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical design engineer to contribute to the development of innovative and high-impact products. If you have a passion for mechanical engineering and enjoy tackling complex design challenges, we encourage you to apply.
