Arcadis is currently seeking a highly motivated Power System Planning & Study Engineer to join our Power Delivery team. Arcadis’s Power Delivery group partners with clients to provide comprehensive plans that incorporate all aspects of their projects. This is a technical position within the Power Delivery unit of Arcadis. The role consists of coordinating and developing the Power System Planning & Study team, performing HVAC and/or HVDC planning and feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies and systems analysis investigations for clients in North America primarily, and globally.
The incumbent will also work closely with other Power Delivery departments, including Substation Engineering, Transmission Engineering, Protection & Control Engineering, and Renewables teams, as well as other Arcadis divisions on related system studies and power sector master plans.
- Support, develop, and deliver various complex power system study and planning projects within regulated, non-regulated, developer, or other industrial clients.
- Perform and review power systems analysis activities including load‑flow, short‑circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small‑signal stability analysis, system impact study, reliability analysis, etc.
- Perform planning/system performance studies and transient studies for compliance with prevailing standards, criteria, and good engineering practice.
- Deliver accurate and thorough planning, studies, system design, report summary and other client system study deliverables that meet industry standards and specifications and good engineering practice with excellent constructability.
- Be responsible for QA on client reports and deliverables.
- Maintain close coordination and assist other relevant Arcadis Business Units and Practices for cross‑selling and cross‑staffing opportunities. Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.
Travel of up to 25% to client sites and customer meetings, both within North America and potentially internationally, may be required.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering;
Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum 5 years of direct experience in power system study analysis and planning.
- Proficient with the PSS®E software package, including load‑flow, short‑circuit, and transient stability analysis. Experience with alternative planning software applications, including TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools, is highly desirable.
- Familiar and experienced with key North American Market Operators (MISO, PJM, NE‑ISO, NY‑ISO, CAISO, ERCOT, SSP, AESO, IESO) policies, guidelines, regulations, rules, requirements, and criteria applicable to grid interconnection, performance and planning, especially related to bulk power systems.
- PE license.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $68,187 - $129,385.
Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
