Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering‑related activities on one or more projects.
  • Coordinate assigned activities with other job families.
  • Manage the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.
  • Work with Human Resources Coordinator to hire new engineering talent and conduct performance reviews.
  • Select, train, motivate, evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; implement discipline and termination procedures; guide less senior engineers toward licensure.
  • Oversee and participate in development and administration of the department budget, approve forecasts and expenditures, and implement budgetary adjustments.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings and committees, stay abreast of industry trends, contribute to industry white papers, and speak or teach at industry events.
  • Participate in business development programs and initiatives, proactively seeking new opportunities and strengthening existing client relationships.
  • Ensure engineering team follows company standards and procedures; follow quality procedures and utilize quality tools; lead improvement initiatives.
  • Provide information, suggestions, advice, and technical assistance to city, county, district officials and programs by answering questions, interpreting laws and regulations, and resolving problems.
  • Direct and supervise other engineers’ activities; when needed, perform responsibilities identified in the Engineer III job description.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work in office and field settings; may work overtime, weekends, and travel up to 50%.
Eligibility and Licensing

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis for a non‑temporary role, without the need for employer‑sponsored work authorization now or in the future. Working Conditions
  • Duties performed in office and field settings; office work includes prolonged seated tasks, extended keyboarding, computer screens; field work includes outdoor and construction site work in all weather conditions.
  • Position may require travel up to 50%; requires valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record.
Physical Requirements
  • Regular standing, walking, using stairs, hands, reaching, talking, hearing.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Consistently demonstrates high levels of mechanical engineering technical knowledge, ingenuity, and creativity.
  • Expert knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and ability to apply them.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to make decisions and find solutions to problems.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks, thrive in deadline‑driven environment, prioritize tasks, be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and substantial professional development required.
  • Master’s degree or PhD strongly preferred.
  • Fifteen or more years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Meaningful operations or construction experience required.
Pay Range

USD 126,000 – 189,630 per year (Worcester, MA; Plymouth, MA).
