Project Manager - Civil Engineering (Didcot) – Lead Major Infrastructure Projects
Are you an experienced Project Manager in Civil Engineering ready to take full ownership of large‑scale infrastructure schemes and drive delivery from inception through to completion?
About the roleMy client is a leading Tier One civil engineering contractor that has delivered complex infrastructure projects across the UK for over 200 years. They are expanding their Civil Engineering team in Didcot and are looking for a confident, commercially aware Project Manager who thrives on responsibility, leads high‑performing teams and delivers projects safely, on time and within budget.
Responsibilities- Manage all site staff and lead multidisciplinary teams
- Drive project planning from inception through to completion
- Manage resources, budgets and programme delivery
- Ensure compliance with all company procedures and industry standards
- Oversee Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
- Deliver projects to programme and within budget
- Manage subcontractors and ensure performance standards are met
- Liaise with clients, designers and stakeholders
- Chair progress and subcontractor meetings; produce reports
- Maintain contractual records and documentation
- Lead contract meetings and provide strategic input
- Identify and implement improvements and innovations
- Control project costs and financial performance
- Compile and submit O&M manuals at project completion
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Extensive experience delivering civil engineering projects (typically 10+ years)
- Proven track record managing large‑scale infrastructure schemes
- Strong project planning, scheduling and resource management skills
- Excellent understanding of construction methods and engineering principles
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage teams
- Effective communication skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Experience managing budgets and controlling project costs
- Full UK driving licence
- Salary:
Dependent on experience - Car allowance
