Your Opportunity We're looking for a Senior Project Manager / Technical Lead experienced in Conveyance who's passionate about shaping water infrastructure and making a real impact within the community. In this role, you'll lead the planning, design and delivery of urban storm drain, combined and sanitary sewer, and drinking water conveyance projects principally for municipal clients across New England, working alongside a diverse group of technical experts to deliver meaningful solutions for our broader clients and communities.
Conveyance includes large pipelines, pump/booster pump stations, linear storage systems, urban flood reduction, outfalls, green stormwater infrastructure, sewer separation, condition assessment and trenchless installation/rehabilitation. The role involves identifying, developing, pursuing, and winning projects with new and existing clientele to grow our conveyance as well as trenchless condition assessment and rehabilitation business. The position requires leadership in the execution and delivery of technically complex conveyance projects and provides opportunities for thought leadership through collaboration with research and innovation teams in the development and deployment of innovative technologies.
The successful candidate will be someone with strong leadership and communication skills, market knowledge, business acumen combined with innovative ideas, and a successful history of client relations and account management.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of design professionals and technicians
- Mentor and supervise staff and develop high-performing project teams
- Perform business development/application tasks and collaborate with staff to increase project wins and develop long-lasting client relationships.
- Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
- Perform complex engineering design tasks on assigned projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines.
- Assist with management of design and construction of projects.
- Establish goals and objectives for unique and complex projects.
- Successfully implement project plans to achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations.
- Conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitate independent technical review by others.
- Undertake decisions and recommendations governed by general policy and project management governance.
- Supervise local staff and provide mentoring and coaching for future leaders, including development of succession plans for key positions
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Inspire project teams to higher levels of achievement.
- Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines including stress/structural, instrumentation & controls, and electrical.
- Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
- Understanding of construction methods, such as open-cut and trenchless (microtunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure, is considered an asset.
- Understanding of water and storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation, is considered an asset.
- Experience and expertise with the design of conveyance projects in urbanized, congested areas.
- Experience with the design of water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure 24-inches in diameter and larger.
Education and Experience
- Education:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering in environmental, civil engineering, or a related field from an accredited university. - Minimum 15 years of project management experience in a consulting environment, with a focus on conveyance and water infrastructure design.
- Licensure:
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain license within 6 months. - Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
- Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.
