Purpose of RoleWeir ESCO is seeking an innovative engineer to develop products, processes and solutions to expand and enhance the Construction Ground Engaging Tools Product portfolio. We solve complex mechanical problems to provide market leading products optimized for performance and manufacturability. This position will report to the Engineering Team Lead.
As a successful candidate, you will be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment with a diverse global team while demonstrating strong mechanical aptitude, creative thinking, problem solving, communication, individual project management, organizational skill, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- New Product Design:
Effectively communicate with internal and external customers to identify design criteria for best-in-class, primarily cast steel products which meet and exceed customer expectations. - Product Optimization:
Work with sales, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to identify opportunities to improve product offering as needed to industry leading expectations. - Problem Solving:
Use sound engineering principles and practices in defining, solving, and documenting problem solutions. - Building and Testing:
Participate in first article manufacturing trials, lab testing, and field trials. - Technical Writing:
Write product specifications and standards. - Database Management:
Maintain data throughout the product lifecycle using engineering change orders and database tools. - Safety First:
Demonstrate 100% commitment to zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Two+ years of related engineering experience.
- CAD modeling skills; ideally with Siemens NX.
- CAE skills: FEA Stress Analysis.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- Willing and able to travel up to 5% (domestic and international).
- Must be authorized to permanently work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Analysis tools: DEM, MAGMASOFT®, and LS-DYNA.
- Tolerancing with GD&T.
- Mining or Construction industry experience.
- Design for Manufacture and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Design of Experiments and applied statistical analysis.
- Fabrication and casting design.
- Materials and fracture mechanics.
- Pattern tooling design.
- Laser scanning & scan to model processing.
- Project management (MS Project preferred).
- Positive contribution to the community.
- High degree of creativity and a drive for results.
