Whatcan you expect?
As the Geologist III, you will work out of the office in Anchorage or Fairbanks, AK, Post Falls, , Salt Lake City, UT, or Portland, ME and utilize your knowledge to participate in collecting, synthesizing and documenting data from investigated areas and assisting in the preparation of project documentation, in addition to providing field support as needed including field site supervision.
Personal initiative and critical thinking skills are essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance. Assignments are deadline driven so must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently and provide a consistent level of high quality in a high-pressure environment. This position will support Project Managers and will include mentorship by various Project Managers and Technical Advisors.
The expectation for this position is to be on the path to becoming a Project Manager or Technical Advisor.
- Conduct and oversee site inspections, assessments, investigations, and cleanups in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and as directed by project management staff.
- Work with environmental technicians and other technical staff in data collection, site inspection/investigation, and evaluation of data collected in support of environmental project objectives.
- Prepare technical evaluations of investigated sites.
- Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, coordination, and oversight to project staff preparing written project documentation.
- Review and document the processes necessary to obtain, develop and/or update environmental permits, plans, reports, licenses, and other requirements necessary to achieve environmental compliance and restoration project objectives.
- Review and provide documentation of environmental technical standards, guidelines, policies, and formal regulations to ensure proposals meet all appropriate requirements.
- Prepare charts or graphs from data samples, providing summary information on the environmental relevance of the data.
- Determine data collection methods to be employed in site surveys and investigations.
- Participate and lead in creating an effective team dynamic.
- Provides technical QC of documentation.
- Is a lead author of technical documentation.
- Is a technical liaison for Clients.
- Lead a proactive safety culture.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as directed.
This position will have supervisory responsibilities over junior staff.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Strong knowledge of the practical application of environmental engineering science and technology.
- This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various environmental services.
- Detailed Knowledge and understanding of RCRA, CERCLA, NPDES, CWA, OPPA, CAA, and other applicable laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules governing environmental projects and programs.
