Summary

The Special Education Tech III - DD role provides instruction and behavioral support in year-round special purpose programs. Under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher, BCBA/Social Worker and the Director, the Special Education Tech III-Developmental Disorders is actively involved in providing instructional services and behavioral treatment to meet the required academic, behavioral and daily living needs of students, with a focus on helping children learn new ways of coping with challenges and increasing their communication and independence.

Required

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education:

    Minimum of 90 credits of approved study required.
  • License/

    Certifications:

    Certification as an Education Technician III from the Maine Department of Education (minimum of 90 credits in approved study) required. Certification as School-Based Behavioral Health Professional preferred (may be provided upon hire).
  • Experience:

    One year of experience working with children or youth with developmental disorders, mental health disorders, and/or challenging behavior in school, hospital, or residential setting preferred.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements

    Required:

    DOE fingerprinting.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred
    • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide education and care to students' ages 5-
