* This is inclusive of a 15% recruitment and retention stipend

This position can be located in our Augusta, Portland, or Bangor office.

Core Responsibilities
  • Clinically assess each plan of safe care to determine the level of safety for substance exposed infants and their caregiver(s) and make recommendations for additional action when there are outstanding questions about care of the infant or significant, unmet safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with OCFS staff, medical providers, social service providers and other community collaboratives, taskforces and work groups who work to improve systems of care for substance exposed infants and their caregiver(s).
  • Consult with families and providers involved in programs targeted to support substance exposed infants and their caregiver(s).
  • Provide quality improvement training for direct line staff.
  • Data collection related to Plans of Safe Care to meet federal reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as it relates to supporting the health and well-being of children and youth in DHHS custody.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nursing
-OR- graduation from an accredited school of nursing and 2 years of professional nursing experience.

Licensing, Registration, and Certification Requirements

Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse as issued by the State Board of Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders and treatment options;
  • Knowledge of maternal, infant, and child health related to substance use during pregnancy;
  • Knowledge of public health, social services and intervention and support programs targeted towards supporting substance exposed infants and their caregiver(s);
  • Knowledge of child welfare, child abuse and neglect, children’s behavioral health and trauma informed systems of care.
