Responsibilities
  • Serve as an interpreter at face‑to‑face appointments in medical, legal, educational, and social service settings.
  • Assist patients, families, and clients to understand and communicate during crucial moments such as doctor’s visits and parent‑teacher conferences.

What You’ll Need

Language Mastery: Total fluency in English and a second language.

Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and hold at least a High School Diploma (or equivalent).

Reliability: You must be willing to travel locally within Maine for face‑to‑face appointments.

Screening: Success depends on passing a background check, drug test, and (for medical roles) providing standard immunization records (MMR, TB, Flu, etc.).

Certification: If you aren't already certified, you’ll just need to pass a proficiency test.

Note: Previous interpreting experience is a plus, but if you have the heart and the linguistic skills, we want to hear from you!
