Job Summary:
The University of Southern Maine is seeking Custodians CL2 on both the Portland and Gorham campuses.
Base pay: $17.37/hr (with an additional $0.80/hr shift differential for shifts between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.).
Full‑time (40 hours per week). Flexible shifts consistent week to week.

- Clean and disinfect a variety of daily campus areas.
- Assist with event set‑ups and take‑downs.
- Collect and dispose trash.
- Clear snow at building entrances and maintain clear entrances.
- Unlock and secure buildings.
- Report maintenance issues and equipment failures.
- Recommend corrective action for improvement.
- Respond to customer concerns with efficiency and respect.
- Collaborate with Facilities Management team, students, faculty, staff, vendors, and the broader USM community.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to custodial team members.
- Other duties as reasonably assigned.
- High school diploma or GED, or international degree equivalent.
- At least one year of custodial or janitorial experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, follow verbal and written instructions, and safety procedures.
- Capable of lifting & carrying equipment and materials up to 50 lbs frequently; capable of standing for long periods, bending, and reaching.
- Valid driver’s license meeting University APL requirements.
