Role Description The Molder Operator role is a full-time, on-site position based in Portland, ME. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring molding machines to produce flooring, trim, and other millwork components from reclaimed and antique lumber. Day-to-day tasks include reading work orders, selecting and preparing lumber, adjusting machine settings, performing quality checks on finished pieces, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.

The Molder Operator will perform basic machine maintenance, report equipment issues, and collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines and quality standards. The role also requires accurate measurement, documentation of production, and safe handling of materials in a busy shop environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating woodworking machinery (such as molders, planers, and saws) and using basic hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of lumber species, grading, and wood characteristics, with an interest in reclaimed or antique materials.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, and measurements, and to perform consistent quality checks.
• Commitment to safety practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to shop safety procedures.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move lumber, and work in an active production environment.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a production team.
• Prior experience in millwork or flooring production is preferred.
• Must be willing to perform all duties assigned.
