Job Overview
TNAA Total Med RN is seeking an operating room RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Portland, Maine.

As an OR travel nurse you will assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients, provide pre‑and post‑surgery care and education, and perform the following tasks:
- Provide basic bedside care.
- Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, and report adverse reactions.
- Serve as communication liaison between patients' family members and the operating team.
- Ensure the correct procedure(s) is performed on the correct patient.
- Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by the physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.
Additional duties for specific roles:
- Circulating OR Nurses:
- Respond to comfort and safety needs of patient.
- Accurate care and handling of specimens.
- Monitor equipment used during surgery.
- Inventory surgical items pre‑and post‑procedure.
- Scrub OR Nurses:
- Selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Inventory surgical items pre‑and post‑procedure.
- RN First Assistants:
- Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care.
- Help control bleeding.
- Suture patients following surgery.
Physical requirements:
stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, stoop, lift up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally; exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases may occur.
- ALCS, BLS certification, and 2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating or scrub nurse, and/or RN first assistant.
- Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
Total Med Travel Job . Pay package based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend to be determined.
