SummaryThe Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center's mission, vision, and values by exhibiting the behaviors of excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient- and family-centered care, commitment to the community, and accountability. In accordance with national nursing practice standards and Maine Medical Center policies and the Maine State Board of Nursing, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care.
Care delivery and coordination begin with the initial contact with the health care system and may continue across the continuum, in inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, or community settings.
- Provide nursing care according to assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation.
- Coordinate patient and family care from initial contact through the continuum of care.
- Deliver care in inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and/or community settings as applicable.
- Education:
BSN preferred. Evidence of 10 hours of ongoing education per year. - License/
Certifications:
Current Maine RN license. Certification in relevant specialty preferred. - Experience:
At least 1 year of RN experience. Meets all requirements of Clinical Nurse I. Level I usually achieved by 12 months. ED experience strongly preferred; critical care, pediatrics, or behavioral health experience preferred. - Basic knowledge of nursing research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Analytical ability to identify changes in patients’ conditions and initiate appropriate action.
- Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families and initiate appropriate action.
- Demonstrates caring nursing practice and promotes a healing environment for patients and families.
- Demonstrates knowledge and technical skills to care for most patient populations on the unit.
