Are you a clinically strong RN leader who thrives on organization, collaboration, and improving patient experiences? Orthopaedic Associates of Maine is seeking a Pre-Operative/PAT Manager to lead our Pre-Admission Testing department and play a critical role in ensuring patients are fully prepared, confident, and safe heading into surgery.
This is a high-impact leadership role in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery environment where your clinical expertise, operational insight, and people-first leadership will directly influence surgical readiness, patient satisfaction, and team success.
What You’ll DoAs the Pre-Operative/PAT Manager, you will oversee the daily clinical and operational functions of the PAT department, supervising PAT RNs/MAs, the Joint Navigator, and Surgical Schedulers. You’ll serve as a key liaison between patients, providers, nursing leadership, and administrative teams—ensuring seamless coordination and exceptional care.
Leadership & Operations- Provide daily leadership, coaching, and support to a multidisciplinary PAT team
- Develop, standardize, and maintain PAT workflows, documentation, and procedures
- Ensure patients complete required testing, clearances, and education in a timely manner
- Collaborate with providers, OR coordination, and leadership to optimize surgical flow
- Monitor and report key performance indicators such as clearance turnaround times, scheduling accuracy, and patient satisfaction
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead quality initiatives
- Serve as the escalation point for complex cases, operational challenges, or patient concerns
- Perform and oversee pre-admission screening, assessments, and patient management
- Review medical histories to identify clearance or consult needs
- Conduct or oversee clinical testing (EKGs, blood draws, nasal/oropharyngeal swabs)
- Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the EMR
- Advocate for patient rights, privacy, and safety
- Hire, onboard, train, and evaluate staff
- Ensure ongoing competency, skills validation, and professional development
- Facilitate regular team meetings to encourage communication and collaboration
- Foster a positive, supportive, and professional team environment
- Registered Nurse degree from an accredited school of nursing
- Active State of Maine RN license (or eligibility)
- 2–3 years of clinical experience in a medical practice, hospital, or ambulatory surgery center
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Orthopedic experience a plus
- Current BLS Certification
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage priorities and workflows in a fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and problem-solving ability
- Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer applications
