In accordance with national nursing practice standards and the guidelines of Maine Medical Center and the Maine State Board of Nursing, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care.

Care delivery and coordination of patient and family care begin with the initial contact with the health care system and may continue across the continuum, including inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.

• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Evidence of 10 hours of ongoing education per year.

  Certifications:
  
  Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine. Certification in a relevant specialty preferred.
• Experience: At least 1 year of prior RN work experience. Meets all requirements of Clinical Nurse I. Completion of Level I usually achieved by 12 months of employment. Med/surg or telemetry experience preferred.
• Professional Knowledge: Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing.

• Clinical Competence: Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to care for most patient populations on the unit.
