Job Summary: The City of Portland is seeking a Resident Services Director to oversee 24-hour operations of a designated unit at the Barron Center. Reporting to the Director of Nursing Services, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver resident-centered care, fostering strong relationships with families and ensuring clinical excellence through mentorship and collaborative management.

Duties & Responsibilities: You will manage comprehensive assessments, care planning, and unit documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the leadership rotation
  • Driving quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives
  • Resolving clinical or family concerns to maintain a safe, compassionate environment.

Required

Skills & Experience:

  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing and licensure as an RN in Maine, additional education in gerontology preferred.
  • Management and supervisory experience in long-term care required.
  • Possess ability to make independent decisions as circumstances dictate.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
  • Ability to supervise, educate, orient and mentor staff.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative and respectful workplace.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Willingness and ability to provide direct services to residents.

Special Requirements:

  • Up-to-date immunization records are required for all Barron Center staff.
  • An annual flu vaccine is required.
  • Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment physical exam.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a non-union position, Grade C44, with a starting pay range of $83,072 - $93,499 per year, based on relevant years of experience.
