Explore Portland, MeOcean air and working wharves frame daily life in Portland, ME, where healthcare demand runs along Maine's southern coast. Maine Medical Center and Northern Light Mercy Hospital help anchor the city's inpatient care, and their ICU and surgical services serve year-round residents and seasonal coastal visitors alike. South Portland and Freeport make practical bases for clinicians working the metro's campuses. After demanding shifts, many travelers walk the Eastern Promenade or wander the cobblestone streets of the Old Port above Casco Bay for a slower evening.
The harbor sits a short walk from most hospital campuses, which is part of what gives the city its easygoing appeal for travelers cycling through New England.
