The Clinical Nurse (RN) Patient Navigator for Theranostics and Nuclear Medicine serves as a key coordinator and patient advocate throughout the entire radiopharmaceutical therapy journey. This specialized role is responsible for guiding patients through all phases of treatment, from referral and diagnostic imaging through therapy administration and follow-up care.
The Theranostics Nurse coordinates and supports all aspects of radiopharmaceutical therapy delivery, including patient education, scheduling, insurance authorization support, and ensuring all required pre-treatment evaluations are completed. Responsibilities include verifying that appropriate laboratory studies are ordered and completed, monitoring results, coordinating follow-up medications and care plans, and ensuring patients meet all therapy readiness requirements in accordance with regulatory, safety, and clinical standards.
Working collaboratively with physicians, nuclear medicine technologists, medical physicists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary care teams, the Theranostics Nurse helps prepare patients for treatment, confirms documentation and treatment readiness, and maintains compliance with radiation safety protocols. The nurse provides ongoing clinical assessment, education, and support, remaining actively involved with patients throughout the treatment process to ensure a safe, coordinated, and compassionate experience.
On treatment days, the Theranostics Nurse partners directly with Nuclear Medicine staff to facilitate patient flow, assist with therapy preparation and administration, monitor patients during treatment, address clinical concerns, and coordinate follow-up care. This role combines advanced nursing expertise, patient navigation, and care coordination to deliver a seamless, patient-centered experience while supporting innovative radiopharmaceutical therapies and diagnostic imaging services.
