About the Role

Vintage Glass Works specializes in the restoration of historic windows, doors, and architectural millwork for significant historic sites. We're looking for an experienced Restoration Specialist to perform in-place repair and restoration of window and door openings on active job sites. This is a field-based, hands‑on role for a craftsperson comfortable working independently on‑site, often in occupied or historically sensitive buildings.

What You'll Do
  • Assess window and door openings on‑site to determine scope of repair vs. replacement of components
  • Repair and restore historic window openings including frames, sills, jambs, casing, and trim in place
  • Prepare and finish wood surfaces on‑site with paint or stain systems as required, using brush, roller, or spray as appropriate
  • Protect surrounding finishes, flooring, and occupied spaces while working (dust containment, drop cloths, plastic sheeting)
  • Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites, as needed.
  • Coordinate daily with project managers and other trades to sequence work on active sites
  • Operate ladders, scaffolding, or lifts as needed to access openings
What We're Looking For
  • 1‑2+ years of professional experience in historic restoration, carpentry, finishing, or a related trade
  • Proven experience repairing or restoring wood window and door systems in place
  • Comfortable working independently on active job sites with minimal supervision
  • Skilled with hand tools and portable power tools used in on‑site repair work
  • Experience with on‑site finishing (paint/stain) a plus
  • Familiarity with historic preservation standards or practices a plus
  • Comfortable working at heights (ladders/scaffolding) and in varied site conditions
  • Valid driver’s license required; must be able to operate a company vehicle
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time across multiple job sites

This is a full‑time, field‑based position working primarily at job sites in Southern, Central & Coastal, ME. Work is performed on active construction/restoration sites, sometimes in occupied historic buildings, and may involve exposure to weather, dust, and working at heights.

  • $20–$24/hour, based on experience
