DescriptionPortland Yacht Services is seeking a Marine Rigger to join our Rig Shop. Our Rig Shop specializes in the inspection, service, repair, installation, and maintenance of sailboat rigging, spars, and related equipment.
This position is full-time, year round and offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of sailboats and projects, from seasonal stepping and unstepping to rigging repairs, upgrades, and custom work.
Responsibilities- Step and unstep masts
- Inspect standing and running rigging
- Replace and service standing rigging
- Fabricate and replace running rigging
- Splice line and prepare custom running rigging
- Install and service furling systems
- Service winches, blocks, travelers, and related sailing hardware
- Assist with mast, boom, and spar projects
- Install and replace rigging and deck hardware
- Tune sailboat rigs
- Perform seasonal commissioning and decommissioning of rigging
- Work aloft when required
- Maintain rigging tools, equipment, and work areas
- Accurately document work performed and materials used
- Follow established safety procedures

Previous professional marine rigging experience is preferred, but we will consider candidates with sailing, boatyard, construction, fabrication, or other relevant hands‑on experience who are interested in learning the marine rigging trade.
