The Maintenance Mechanic provides all levels of trades support and maintenance of school buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position involves performing related duties, as required or assigned, under general direction from a team leader or supervisor; usually works independent.

• Assists other maintenance staff with carpentry repairs; completes light carpentry and plumbing repairs; flooring removal and installation; demolition activities; installation of classroom equipment and furnishings, such as whiteboards and tack boards
• Makes deliveries of miscellaneous supplies from vendors to schools
• Transfers school furnishings and equipment from school to school
• Normally works independently without close supervision to complete miscellaneous tasks, such as painting, graffiti removal, and general cleaning
• Occasionally performs work in removing snow, plowing, or sanding
• Understands and uses tools properly and safely
• Observes safety precautions; identifies safety procedures and practices
• Displays awareness of unsafe practices and takes appropriate action
• Describes technical problems to supervisor and others for appropriate action
• Performs other related duties, as assigned
• On calls on a rotating schedule

• High School or GED diploma required
• Ability to read and write
• Good working knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, new equipment and technology requirements
• Knowledge of standard equipment operating systems
• Proficiency at use of tools associated with the trades
• Schedule: Full Year, Full Time (1.0 FTE)
• Assignment: Permanent
• Shift: 1st Shift
• Contract: Part of BASE union (see Collective Bargaining Agreement here)
• Wage range: $21.33-$27.55 , based on experience as outlined in CBA
