Job DescriptionThe School of Nursing at the University of Southern Maine invites applications to a Part-time Faculty position in the graduate nursing program to teach Advanced Psychopharmacology (NUR 680) to our cohort of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNP) in the Fall of 2026, beginning August 31, 2026.
Advanced Psychopharmacology (NUR 680) – The clinical application of pharmacotherapeutic principles to psychiatric disorders across the lifespan is examined. Theory and principles of neurobiology are analyzed and applied. Drug pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, indications, contraindications, interactions, and side‑effects are evaluated. Methods for evaluating efficacy of treatment and adjustment of pharmacotherapeutic regimens are emphasized.
This three‑credit course is scheduled for Wednesdays from 12‑3 pm in a hybrid format. At least one face‑to‑face meeting with students is required during this time, either in person or virtually.
Key job responsibilities include delivering content to meet predetermined course objectives, grading and evaluating assignments, and managing the course via our learning management system, Brightspace.

Part‑time faculty members are compensated on a credit‑hour basis according to the Part‑Time Faculty Association of Maine (PATFA) contract. Eligible faculty may elect certain benefits offered by the University of Maine System.
Required Qualifications- Board‑certified PMHNP or Psychiatrist with prescriptive authority, Pharm
D, PhD in a related field.
